RHYTHM AND MOTION
In this garden at Carey Gully, movement is integral to its design. Native grasses ripple in the wind, trees shift with the seasons, and light dances across stone and hard surfaces, creating a landscape that feels alive and ever-changing.
Nestled high in the rolling Adelaide Hills, this expansive site offers sweeping views while seamlessly connecting with its natural surroundings. Carefully selected native plantings not only anchor the garden within the broader landscape but also respond dynamically to the weather and the gardens fixed sculptural elements.
Building upon the existing garden, we carefully refined and enhanced its character, elevating what was already there to create a richer and more dynamic landscape. The architectural textures of the residence are subtly echoed in the garden’s materials, creating a harmonious dialogue between the built form and the landscape. Thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces provide the owners with a range of ways to connect with their surroundings, whether enjoying an evening game on the lit court, gathering on the raised deck, or unwinding by the firepit.
This is a garden that has evolved with the land, adapting, softening, and deepening its presence over time.
