Our garden designs are anything but predictable. We choose not to follow trends, but instead to design gardens that will stand the test of time and enhance the lifestyle of those who use the space. Our designs have a mindfulness to them that helps our clients to be more present and peaceful when spending time at home.
We like to invest in and excite all the senses when designing a garden, and draw on touch, sound and smell to enhance the experience of spending time in each garden we create. We particularly love to use texture in interesting and surprising ways.
We back up our creative process with a clearly outlined set of expectations that flow through all stages of a landscape design project, to ensure there are no surprises along the way. We are committed to making the landscape design and construction process as enjoyable and hassle-free as possible.

As licensed and insured landscape contractors, John Leathart Landscapes have the skills and the qualifications to bring your garden design to life. The benefit of having your garden built by the hands and mind that designed it is that John ensures every design detail is carefully and thoughtfully translated into the built form. John Leathart Landscapes also has strong relationships with several Adelaide-based landscape designers and our team is available for construction-only work should you already have a landscape design plan in hand.
John is an artist and craftsman first and foremost, and his artistic background is reflected in the care we take when building our gardens. John Leathart Landscapes’ clients benefit from John’s design mind, that is always influencing how a garden is brought together during the construction process.
Should your garden require any custom elements such as a water feature, an arbour or outdoor furniture, John also specialises in commissioned art (a passion and skill developed after years working for high profile designer Khai Liew).
