Our Melrose Park project is a garden of layers and light where beautifully constructed structures and hardscaping provide the boundaries from which plantings are encouraged to escape. Evoking a sense of respect for the natural rhythms and patterns of the environment.
This welcoming and well-considered garden in Craigburn Farm balances crisp, modern lines with the timeless beauty of sculptural plants. Designed as a space to both unwind and gather, it features carefully arranged areas that flow seamlessly from one to the next.
Inspired by Japanese design principles, this Sphere Garden Design garden in Burnside’s Adelaide foothills brings a sense of calm and tranquillity to its owners. A tapestry of textures and movement in the planting enhances its meditative quality, while stone elements add depth and structure to what is still a young garden.
In this garden at Carey Gully, movement is integral to its design. Native grasses ripple in the wind, trees shift with the seasons, and light dances across stone and hard surfaces, creating a landscape that feels alive and ever-changing.
Nestled in the heart of McLaren Vale, this project designed by Kylie Hutt of Sphere Landscape Design and Horticultural Services and built by us embodies our passion for texture-filled gardens and varied planting. It becomes a sanctuary for local fauna, their movements lending an energetic dynamic to the serene space.
This North Adelaide courtyard blurs the lines between the perception of indoor and outdoor spaces. The relationship between the footprint, enclosed roof and the scale of the plants and objects in the space gives you the sense of looking at a well decorated room.
Nestled within a large existing garden this installation showcases our love of textures and depth. An organic blend of natural local materials, rusty farm sculpture, and streamlined modern lighting create an intimate garden space in which to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
No sooner are you through the front gate and you know you are in for something special with this garden. A generational lemon tree takes prized place in the front yard with a custom curved deck that both accentuates the lemon tree and provides a shady spot to recline.
Off the back of a successful career in the Arts John followed a passion for furniture design seeing 7 years spent working for premier multi-disciplinary designer Khai Liew in Adelaide. Enjoying the creativity, but knowing something was missing, John began John Leathart Landscapes to incorporate his love of plants and the natural world.
Now with over a decade working with landscapes and commissioned gardens, John’s broad experience across the creative arts, attention to detail, and understanding of construction, ensures his gardens are well-made, thoughtful, creative and inspiring.
With a focus on textural qualities and longevity of material choices, John’s accommodating artistic vision means he enjoys building trust with his clients and incorporating them into a truly collaborative design process.
Clients appreciate this, calm, collaborative, and methodical approach, meaning that no matter what the project, John is able to find the right balance.
