THE JOURNEY
Incorporating the concept of “outdoor rooms” or a “journey” through different spaces, this garden cleverly uses non-linear paths, barriers and vistas to draw your eye and inviting your feet to wander and explore.
Each space has its own story, with the deck walkway and the surrounding Japanese Maples leading you from the more structured front garden to the wild beauty of the back garden. A production garden on the side supplies the homeowners with a range of fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs.
Hardwood timber posts create a screen from the front gate to the outdoor entertaining area, both guiding you to the front door while alluding to the other areas to explore. A recycled metal bowl filled with a myriad of succulents adds texture at a deceptively large scale.
The natural slope of the site was used to create a water feature feeding into a large pond, while a nearby custom bench seat provides a place of quiet contemplation.
